What happened to the young seal found in downtown New Haven?
A five to six-week-old seal pup was rescued after wandering into downtown New Haven, Connecticut, away from Long Island Sound. Authorities found the young seal underweight and in need of care, promptly rescuing it from the urban environment where it had unexpectedly appeared. After its rescue, the seal was transported to Mystic Aquarium where it is currently recovering. Officials believe the pup had separated from other seals in Long Island Sound. Once the seal regains its health and strength, there is a planned release to return it to its natural habitat in the wild.
